Do you know who your shop steward is? If you have a problem or a question at work, reach out to your shop steward as soon as possible.
All members of Local 2-D should receive a copy of their Collective Bargaining Agreement upon hiring. This document spells out the agreement between the union and your employer about what your rights and benefits are on the job. If you do not have one and would like a copy, please contact the union office, and we will provide one for you.
If you are called to a meeting with your supervisor and you are afraid it might be disciplinary, as a union member, you are entitled to have your shop steward or other union representative present, but you must clearly state this to your employer. Having a shop steward present keeps the conversation on the record, and means you will have someone their to represent your rights and ensure you aren’t unfairly disciplined.
